Very topical question! Sadly, I don’t get a vote as although I am Scottish, I live in England.

I would be interested to see what an independent Scotland would be like. Will they get rid of the nuclear weapons stored in Scotland? How much funding will there be for scientific research? Would there be increases in renewable energy? I think an independent Scotland could thrive but it would take a while and a lot of work.

A large part of why Scottish people want a referendum on independence is that they don’t feel they are well represented by the current government in the UK and feel that a Scottish government would better fulfill their needs. Whichever way the vote goes I think the current Scottish parliament should be given greater control over things in Scotland.

I will be very sad if Scotland votes to become independent. I think that there is greater job and economy security for Scotland if they stay part of the UK. I think that there is a touch of “the grass is always greener on the other side” going on. But ultimately it is up to them.

Like Lynne, I’d be really sad if Scotland became independent and I think there may be more problems than they think.

I think its silly, when the general pattern in Europe is to all join together into one big union (that’s another argument in itself!) to start splitting up into little pieces!

I’m really interested to see how to vote turns out.
