• Question: Hello Daran, you said you are researching Stevens Johnson Syndrome, my little brother is 7 and has just spent 3months in hospital 5 weeks on a life support and 8 weeks in intensive care 4 weeks in rehab with sjs/tens,( tens is toxic epidermal necrolysis), he was very very sick, i would like to speak to you about your studies into sjs as not many people have heard of it. resources are limited and lots of people have it. how are your studies progressing please?

      First of all, I’m very sorry to hear that your little brother is sick, I hope he gets better soon.

      I don’t directly study SJS, maybe you have me mixed up with another scientist? However, SJS can be caused by bacterial infections, such as Francisella tularensis, or side effects of current medications used to treat them. I work on trying to find new ways to cure bacterial infections which could help avoid problems like SJS. My work is in it’s very early stages though but other bigger companies are working hard on finding new antibiotics too and hopefully we will find some soon.
