Ofcourse, it is a very important organ that lets me taste my delicious mexican burritos. However, I have a slightly unusual tongue as I have a condition called Ankyloglossia – or tongue tie – which means my tongue is attached to the base of my mouth by a piece of skin. Fortunately, this hasn’t caused me any problems with eating burritos, nom.

I can roll my tongue which I’m aware not everyone can do. In fact, I was at Ripley’s believe it or not in New York last year and they had a mirror where you could see if you could roll your tongue or not. Turned out the mirror actually had a camera behind it and it was hilarious looking at what we looked like as we were trying it out!

With every breath I take, I taste the air. With each mouthful of food I eat chemical receptors on my tongue send powerful messages to my brain. With every sip of a drink, I appreciate the subtle complexities of my tongue. The words I speak…often roll off my tongue 🙂

      Tongues are great!

I love food so I really appreciate all the hard work my tongue does tasting that food for me!
Did you know that people have different numbers of tastebuds on their tongues. If you have loads you’re a supertaster and taste things really strongly. If you want to know if you’re a supertaster or not, you can do this experiment here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/0/22941835

I _love_ food! Especially hot spicy food. My tongue helps me appreciate the world around us, and I would really miss a sense of taste if I had no tongue. So, yes, I appreciate my tongue!
