      I held a tarantula once when I was a kid and it had really soft padded feet. So I think they are a bit like small cats with 8 legs! Wouldn’t want to come across one in the wild though or to keep them myself. I don’t really like other spiders though, particularly the ones which move very fast!

      I don’t really like spiders and I’m not sure why. I think it’s because everybody else tells you that they’re scary! I really just need to be brave next time I get the opportunity to hold one and get over my fears!

      I’m not scared of spiders or insects but I wouldn’t go as far to say that I like them.

      When I was a student at Manchester University (before it became the University of Manchester!) my colleague and buddy Jason Dunlop shared an office with me…he filled the office with fish-tanks…that were each filled with bird-eating spiders, including the Goliath Bird Eating Spider…with a leg span of 30 cm……..I soon got to like BIG spiders!
