I haven’t really invented anything yet I would say. I guess I have made some very slightly new enzymes which have new activities.

I think it’s really hard to say I’ve invented anything. But I have made some very novel chemical samples that I’ve been able to study. I’ve been able to study changes in magnetic and electrical properties and understand why/how it works. I’ve looked at systems that range from being one-dimensional to things which are strongly three dimensional in thier behaviour and the way the atoms are arranged. OK, many of us won’t invent the next iPhone, but we all make new discoveries and this helps to further our collective scientific knowledge.

I am not an inventor so did not invent anything. I manage to show that one protein is expressed in different forms for instance 🙂

I haven’t invented anything really, I’ve helped out with other projects to improve bits of code for analysing different things. It’s hard to come up with something completely new and usually inventions are built on the shoulders of other people and as part of a big team effort.

That’s a great question. I’ve published lots of novel data and made novel compounds with novel applications. I’ve also been granted a couple of patents whilst at university and in industry. In those terms I suppose you could call me an inventor!
