      Monkeys are part of a group called the primates, just like us, chimps, orangutans, gorillas and lemurs.

      The group of primates considered most like our last common ancestors are the lemurs and the tarsiers. So if you google what they are you’ll have a decent idea of what monkeys evolved from! Lemurs, tarsiers, monkeys and us probably evolved from animals similar to colugos or tree shrews.
