I’m sure you already know that being overweight is linked to an increased risk of heart disease and diabetes etc. According to the center for disease control and prevention overweight children between the ages of 5-17 have at least one risk factor for cardiovascualr disease. The statistics would suggest that that an overweight youth is more likely to become an overweight adult which increases the risk of having a heart attack at a younger age, 35-50 years. This won’t necessarily result in death but it is a serious issue.
There are plenty of ways to help prevent this though, healthy diet and exercise. There’s a lot of information on the british heart foundation website http://www.bhf.org.uk/
