Em, such a great question, thanks for asking. I happen to have a blog post I have written about this topic that can give you the long answer:

The short answer is: I could use a little more sleep, but mostly it’s really fun. I have full time daycare and a partner who supports me and wants to completely co-parent: that helps. Also, I love having my own little science experiment to raise, and to get excited about science. We love to listen to the They Might Be Giants album “Science is real” – definite fun for all ages. And right now she is in a gardening camp where she learns about bugs and plants.

At the end of the day, it’s only a conflict to be a parent and a scientist if you want it to be. I choose to see them as two distinct and very important aspects of my life, where one doesn’t hurt the other.

      Hope that helps!
