      Yes…I love it! Being able to understand how and why reactions take place and be able to design an entire molecule based on what reactions should take place is so much fun. There is a technique called ‘retrosynthetic analysis’. Basically you start with a molecule you want and, on paper, break bonds to make smaller molecules until you have a full set of instructions on how to make the molecule you want. The only thing you don’t know for sure is if the reaction will work…so you have to test the hypothesis…now that’s the fun part!
