      Hello there 🙂
I have to say…it feels awesome! I love the fact that I know things that other people don’t because it means I can explain things and help people understand aspects of the world in which we live. I love to be able to teach people and, as I said in my profile, I consider myself very lucky indeed to be able to do it.
It is also a really good feeling to know that I can do something in some small way to increase the world’s collective knowledge…someone could look at my work for inspiration or use it to further their work so they might be able to do something amazing even if I don’t myself.
As a scientist I know that anything I do is just a tiny piece of the puzzle and that that tiny piece could be the clue to a breakthrough that I may not even be alive to witness. In fact I might not even be remembered but at least I’ve helped. That is the best feeling…as a scientist I feel I belong to a fantastic family of people who just want to help. 🙂

I suppose exciting. In science you spend so much time learning that you keep thinking “am I officially a scientist yet? Or am I just a science student still?” Deciding that you are actually a scientist feels amazing – like you’ve somehow been allowed to do something you really really shouldn’t have! There are many years of training involved in science so it is extremely rewarding to get to the point of being a scientist and having people value your research.

Normal? It’s not something I think about, it is just what I do and who I am. I am happy about that because I am comfortable that is what I want to do and where I want to be in the world.
