• Question: Do you think that we can preserve living humans and thaw them out years later and they'd still be alive?

      Not yet, we can’t freeze the cells without killing them, if you want to see why try filling a bottle of water and put it in the freezer – the same problem happens with the cells in your body. Some animals can do this because they have antifreeze proteins in their cells, but we haven’t figured out how to use these in humans yet.

      As Kate says – defrosting us would cause our cells to BURST. There’s also the problem of waking up the body and what defrosts first to keep you alive whilst you’re waking up. If it could be made to work we would also need to eat a lot when we xame out the freezer to give us the energy to warm up and get moving again!
