There are two things I want to do: teach physics and write a book about science with lots of great diagrams and images. I’ll do all of the illustrations myself. So I’d like to be like the awesome professors who are at my university, where they are doing things like making magnetic fridges and sending probes to comets, and then I’d like to be a great artist.

I would like to be as good as I can at my job and aspire to be someone that people working with me can ask for advice as I do from my senior collegues. I want to be able to talk to school kids about my work and have at least one person answer this question in 10 yrs time and say it was me.

I aspire to be like famous professors who have lots of people they boss around and get to do science. I love the idea that I can walk into work and say, “I had this idea in the car. I want you to do it today.” and have them come back to me and tell me whether or not it works. There is no job with such a fast loop between idea->result as in my field of work, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I want to do this for a living because all those professors have the chance to turn their ideas into reality every day.
