      Hi the equipment that i use to detemine metal content in watr samples is called an ICP-MS. It looks like a lage grey box. It takes the solution in and vapourises it in a plasma which is at about 6000 degrees C then it uses lens and magnets to separate the vapour into ions according to their mass and the dector recognises which element comes out at that mass and quantifies it.
