Question: What advice would you give to someone if they wanted to become a scientist or what inspiring advice would you give to someone who doesn't want to become a scientist to try and make them to be one
Science is a very rewarding career and the wonderful thing about it is that there are sooo many options!
You could study marine creatures around the world, explore space, help people in earthquake and volcano regions, discover cures and new techniques in a lab, find new sources of energy, find better ways to grow food, advance technology for hospitals and personal use, help police find criminals or help answer mysteries others can’t!
Options are limitless!
If you decide to go to university choose the best one for the course content and don’t be afraid of moving from home! Plus whenever possible try to get some work experience – will really help you out!
I would tell them to think about the big questions facing our world: how would we power the earth when we’ve ran out of fossil fuels? We getting towards having no more coal and oil, and the temperature is rising, so how will we keep charging our phones or heating our homes?
I would say look at the world around you- in your house. How do you think planes fly? How do you think your washing machine works? How does the fridge keep anything cold? If you can’t answer those questions, you have to study science, because you have to be able to figure out the answers.
It is a very good degree to get a job. Science is the most ’employable’ job- everyone wants to use scientist’s knowledge and their ways of planning and asking questions. WE are very logical and wise so are good for lots of jobs! People work in banks and lead countries and teach and run their own labs!
