Henry Cavendish, the scientist who discovered hydrogen, was born on my birthday in 1711. Every single molecule or chain of molecules I look at contains hydrogen, so I guess that is pretty similar! He was pretty shy but really in to accuracy and precision. Sometimes I feel quite shy and I’m always really careful when I am conducting experiments. Henry Cavendish went to school in London, like me!
I’m really into talking to everybody about the kind of science I do. Lots of the money to fund our studies and work comes from the government, so I think we should help them inspire the next generation of scientists instead of leaving them to pay teachers to do all of the hard work. I think in that sense I’m different to Henry Cavendish- I’m not sure he would have spoken about his research to the public!
