• Question: I have never seen or even heard of the bendy phone or TV. Well apart for the Iphone 6+ but that's a different story. Do you think they will be big in the future. If they would be would you change anything about it?

The iPhone 6 + was definitely a mistake! We’re not trying to make them so once you’ve bent them you can’t bend them back again- but that instead they are printed on sheets of plastics that we can roll up. You have actually heard of our materials, Samsung Galaxy phones use O-LEDs (organic light emitting diodes) in their screens. This means they have a really sharp colour (because we control their colour with the chemistry).
Unfortuantely, the materials don’t last very long if they are in air (because they react with oxygen). Even though we can print them on plastic sheets, we have to cover them with glass to protect them on oxygen. So I guess I’ll be working on what causes them to break up a lot! If we’re going to make bendy solar panels, we’ll have to think carefully about how to keep them from falling apart and getting damaged. Think about what happens when we lie out in the sun all day- we burn and go red. If we blitz our special materials in the sunlight, some of their bonds can change so they don’t conduct electricity so well.
