  It depends on what kind of scientist you want to be. I would say these days you will need a science degree, either a bachelors or a masters. A lot of people I went to university with as an undergraduate are now working for energy companies or defence companies as scientists. However if you want to be a research scientist working in a university and eventually become a professor, you will need to do a PhD as well 🙂
