• Question: Did u find out how a toothbrush chargers the electric ones what sort of stuff did u want to find out about ?

      Yep – what happens in electric toothbrushes is that the toothbrush has part of a transformer in it and the base has the other. When toothbrush is put on the base then the transformer is complete and charge can flow from the base to the toothbrush.

      The other kinds of things I found really interesting were why the pitch of ambulance sirens change when they are coming towards you and going away (it’s to do with the Doppler effect which we use to find out how far away galaxies are http://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/YBA/M31-velocity/Doppler-shift-2.html) and the physics behind musical instruments (eg http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/jw/woodwind.html). I love being able to understand everyday things with physics!
