So my most memorable day at work was when I used to work for E.ON the energy company. They had a research centre at a working power station. One day we were watching in real time another power station being shut down. Some of the other scientists were making sure everything was looking safe and normal, and we got to watch all the power slowly fall as these huge turbine slowly got brought to a halt. It wasn’t really related to my own work but it was so interesting to see how these things work!

I think handing projects in that you have finished are always a good day! The most recent one for me though was actually yesterday! I was setting up some soil sampling plots in the research forest, and it has taken a lot of effort and collaboration with other researchers to get these areas in the forest marked off for my research so it was a pretty good day to actually make a start on the work!

The best day at work was when I won a competition to develop a weather app, and then released it on the store for customers. I bought some champagne to celebrate that occasion, as it was very rewarding after a lot of very hard work to complete the project on time. Great fun in the end!

One of my best days was when of my young female staff members made a fantastic presentation to a room of very senior scientists. The presentation was well received and she had many complements from the audience on the way she captured the audiences attention and answered all of the question. It made be very good to see the way she had grown in confidence
