I am very lucky – I have it – working across East and Southern Africa helping countries develop and run projects that take one board climate change issues and do little harm to the environment
My dream job would be what I am doing now, but with a bit more money to spend on my experiments! Science can be very expensive because all the equipment and experiments cost a lot of money. When you do a science PhD (like me) you usually get 2 “pots” of money. One pot of money is your salary (pay). The 2nd pot of money is to spend on experiments. I would love if this 2nd pot was bigger because it would allow me to do some more cool experiments!
As a child my dream job was to design roller coasters in theme parks. I realised when i was on that path that I really wanted to use science to do something that helped the planet. And that’s what I’m doing! I’m using my knowledge and skills to do something to help stop global warming, and that IS my dream job.
I still love roller coasters though… mostly riding them rather than designing them!
I guess my dream job was to be a geologist – and that’s what I ended up becoming! However, one thing I have discovered is I really like sharing my science with people, so I think maybe when I finish my PhD I would like to become a scientist who does both research and a large portion of science communication.
I am making my own dream job, since I run my own business. I love making weather forecasts 🙂 The weather is always changing from one hour or day to the next.
My dream job would be a combination of 2 things – a psychotherapist/psychologist (which I already do) combined with a marine biologist/shark conservationist (which I kind of do as a hobby). So if I combined these I would call myself a marine psychologist (I love the sound of that)
