I’m afraid I can’t answer this question very well – I’m not a material scientist. What I do know is that graphene is a new material made of a special lattice of carbon atoms that is super strong. In fact a sheet of graphene just one atom thick is 200 times stronger than steel! That is because of the bonds bewteen the atoms being so strong in a very stable lattice.
I work with wind turbine and we are always looking for strong, flexible materials to make turbine blades, often the are mage of glas or carbon fibre which are layers of resin and carbon or glass to reinforce the fibres. They can be very strong and very light, but sometimes very expensive!
