Climate change is caused by the general warming of our planet due to greenhouse gas. As temperatures rise, water expands and sea levels rise. Temperatures also cause weather systems to act differently – sometimes it’s very hard to predict and can be much more extreme!
Climate change is caused by many different things. Human causes of climate change are the current concern from burning fossil fuels. Natural climate change occurs from volcanoes that often cool the Earth, and sudden changes in the ocean currents, or even changes in the Sun. Some of these natural effects are localised and are short-lived, while others are rare yet long-term. The wobbles of the Earth on its axis causes some long-term changes in climate on hundred of thousands of year cycles.
Our parents, their parents and their parent before them all contributed to climate change as we all do every day of our lives. The worlds population as exploded and we need food, energy and water for people to live and prosper. It unfortunate that the technologies we have used to achieve this growth have meant high levels of fossil fuel usage and the clearing of forests (the earth natural lungs) so we can grow food, build towns and cities. So the Green House Gases in the earth atmosphere have increased over the last two decades and will continue to do so, unless we change the way we live-a challenge for all of us in the next two decades
The others have summed things up quite nicely and mentioned quite a few things!
Just to add:
Cow and water buffalo burps produce methane, which is a greenhouse gas and contributes towards the greenhouse effect! It is important to know how much methane animals emit too.
As the other researchers have said, the climate change that is currently a big problem is human-caused climate change (but there can be climate changes for other reasons). This human-caused climate change is caused by greenhouse gases being released by humans (and animals as Rehemat said!) which forms a layer in the atmosphere and acts like a greenhouse- it lets light rays in, but doesn’t let them out. This means that the planet is warming up very quickly. c
