Stephen Twomlow answered on 6 Mar 2018:
Today I am in Lesotho working with the Government on The Wool and Mohair Promotion Project. The project is three years old and is working towards improving the rangelands where Angora goats and Merino sheep are raised and the overall wool and mohair production. In the first two or three days of a mission I meet with the project team and government officials responsible for the project. Today I met the Minister of Agriculture and the Permanent Secretary for the MInstry of Energy and Meteorology

Today I am writing my thesis 🙁 it is due very soon.
When you are training to be a scientist, you have to do a degree called a PhD (or Doctor of Philosophy) which generally lasts 3-4 years (in the UK, abroad it can take up to 7 years). As part of the assessment process you have to write up all your experiments into a big book called a thesis. This is an essay that can’t be longer than 100,000 words. Sometimes it’s enjoyable writing up your data, but sometimes it can be very hard. Sitting at a computer and typing away all day isn’t the most fun activity to do 🙁

Hi! Today I had a really good day 🙂 Today I was working with 7 other researchers out in the high-tech forest that I use for my research. The forest has some special towers which blow extra carbon dioxide (a greenhouse gas) into the air around the trees, which makes the air the same as the air will be in about 50 years time. This means our trees are living in the future!
So we can find out what happens to the forest with the future air, we have to take lots of samples to test. Today we were taking soil samples, which means carefully digging up small amounts of soil from specific areas in the forest. I did lots of digging and walking around so I have tired legs now!

Today I am hosting a workshop with a few different people in the company. We are decided which is the best way to help small companies and inventors in the UK to get projects and funding to bring their inventions into the renewable energy sector. Not very “sciency” today but still very important!

I started today walking my dog in the woods next to my house, we also took Tara my next door neighbours dog with us, I heard lots of woodpeckers and an owl who may have thought it was still night time!
Then I made a few phone calls to people who need support with dealing with problems in their lives, some of them have children they are struggling to talk with, some of them have experienced traumatic things, and they need help to recover. I listen, offer support, and advice.
Then I e mailed the children I am working with in the Maldives asking them how they were getting on with the climate change projects we have started to work on together and gave them some more ideas.
Then I planned a class for next week
Most days are a mixture of things, which I like
