Warming can help some plants grow better in areas that would usually be too cold. For example the fizzy white wine that is produced in Nottingham is now better quality than the champagne that is grown in the North of France.
There are some benefits – some people are now saying that ships can go across the arctic that couldn’t before because of the melting ice caps. This could make transport of food, clothes and goods cheaper for lots of countries. I really believe that these “good” aspects of climate change are really not worth the bad effects!
It all depends where you are living. Many people think that the changing climate in England will allow us to grow more wine in the future – whilst parts of southern Europe will get hotter and dryer and grow less
Not really I’m afraid, because it is not happening naturally, it is happening because of human activity. So its happening too fast for plants or animals to adapt. If this was natural climate change then there may be some benefits. But its not.
There are a few positive effects of climate change, but these tend to be focused in small places or very small reasons. For example, there may be some small countries where they can grow more food because of climate change. However in the world as a whole climate change probably means that we can grow less food on average (so the small positive effect doesn’t really matter!)
One of the important things about climate change is to try and think of the “big picture” and think about the overall effects on the planet rather than just zooming in on one small place or person.
