Mmmm I love chocolate! Making it sounds quite tricky – I think I’ll stick to buying it for now 🙂
Chocolate actually starts with a fruit – the cocoa bean! The cocoa bean has seeds which contain cocoa. We can get cocoa solids and cocoa butter from the seeds. The cocoa solids and cocoa butter are mixed with sugar, milk and sometimes vegetable oils to make chocolate!
Milk chocolate contains cocoa solids, cocoa butter, sugar and milk. White chocolate doesn’t contain any cocoa solids – they would make it brown. White chocolate also has more sugar in to make it sweeter.
It takes a almost a full year for a cocoa tree to produce enough seed pods to make 10 standard-sized chocolate bars!
