Hail stones are balls of frozen rain that form high up in the air – they are formed when water droplets freeze really quickly. Hail stones grow larger and larger until they are too heavy to stay in the air and then they fall to the ground. The biggest hail stone ever recorded was about 20 cm in diameter, imagine that landing in your garden!! ❄ ❄

I don’t think I would like a 20cm hail stone landing in the garden Cat

A 20 cm hailstone is pretty crazy! That is huge. Must be pretty rare – they’re not usually that big!
