I am working on 2 funded projects. 1 is to help to create a green and decarbonised future home heating system that does not result in increased ‘fuel poverty’. A lot of people can’t afford to heat their homes right now, and many of the new technologies that are ‘green’ are also more expensive, which means that many more people may not be able to heat their houses in winter. We make models to help make decisions on policies to make future home heating more affordable for poorer families!

The second project is to help governments to plan for reducing their emissions by seeing how carbon capture and negative emission technologies (like direct air capture) can play a role in helping to stop carbon emissions at the source (at power plants and industries) to help slow global warming.

I am currently doing my PhD degree and my project is on identifying the biodesulfurisation pathway in a bacteria called Gordonia desulfuricans which can remove sulphur from waste rubber and allow us to recycle rubber.
