I hope so! Some days when experiments or equipment dont work, it may feel like I am not, but everyone has bad days from time to time, it doesnt mean I am a bad scientist

I also hope so! I often have to say to myself “if it was easy, someone would have done it already”.

I am, but I keep forgetting. I have to tell myself a lot, “Yes, you are good enough. Yes, you can do this. Nobody is perfect.”

Objectively – yes. It was a competitive interview, required a high level of qualification (doctorate) and within the role I have been promoted. Still get imposter syndrome sometimes though.

I like to think so! Sometimes when I am learning something new which might be a difficult to understand I think that perhaps maybe I am not that good but then I try to remember that no-one is brilliant at everything. We all good at different things which is why teamwork in science is so important. Something I might not be very good at might be the thing that some one else is good at and vice versa. That way we can help each other.

Every day, I wonder the same thing! I think that being surrounded by very smart people who are experts or who have more experience than you, makes you question your own ability. If you were to ask my colleagues and students, I think that most of them would say that I am, but there are always things that I feel I can improve!

I get what’s called imposter syndrome, a lot of people get it. It’s where you feel like an imposter in your chosen subject or any area of your life. This is NORMAL! Everybody gets it, I’ve spoken to people higher than myself at work, and they have it too. Trust your intuition and know that you have what it takes because everyone else is just as worried about themselves as you are.

I like to think so! though there are always days where you doubt yourself and of course, there’s always room to improve and learn more to get even better at the job too!
