• Question: do you ever get days that you are fed up with science and have considered doing somthing diffrent

      yes, and I did go and do something different. i worked as a science consultant in London but in the end I came back to science as I missed doing my own work and make my own discoveries.

      Never, I tried doing a few different things before being a scientist but none were as enjoyable as the science. it would have been pretty cool to have been a professional sports person, alas, I never had the talent.

      Absolutely! It can be incredibley frustrating when you are in a bit of a rut and nothing seems to be working. But I guess everyone has days like these…. I pull myself out of it pretty quickly.

      Oh yes I do. I guess it is like any other job. Sometimes things go wrong and days like the ones you have described come along..!

      sometimes when things don’t work i get fed up..or when i don’t get funding or even when i am marking and can see someone didn’t revise…but happily because i have a range of things that i do i can swap between them so if one thing is not going well i can look at another

      but never wanted to do anything but science
