      Hi Molly
I really like plants because they are a fascinating group of organisms. They eat light – that’s pretty incredible. They regulate our atmosphere; they are found all over the world in breath taking variety exploiting all kinds of physical and ecological niches. This means they are found in many many different places and do lots of interesting things. There are plants I have seen in Asia which eat animals! These are called the pitcher plants (Nepenthes sp.) There are different kinds in different places, but they have a large pitcher which is probably some form of very heavily modified leaf.

You can read about them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitcher_plant

Plants also provide us with our food, and provide the food for the animals we eat too. So they are utterly essential to us!

They are essential and fascinating. That’s my answer in a nutshell!

      Bye!
