      Hi

Good question. The data that I collected in Gabon was presented by the President to the United Nations meeting on climate change. That provided a major boost for the central African countries who want to use their forests better to store carbon and get paid for doing so.

The project I currently work on in Indonesia is currently attempting to expand a protected area which could conserve 40,000 hectares of rainforest on peat soil. Although there is a lot of variation, the normal amount of carbon you might expect to find in an area of rainforest is about 200 tonnes per hectare. In peat swamp forests, you may have eight times that amount!

      Wish us luck!
