Question: hey sarah, i see you do research into cancer.. i know it sounds stupid but do you think there is a possibility that a disease could take over the world and kill everyone like in the films 'i am legend' and '28 weeks later'?:)

  I think there is a possibility that a disease could take over the world. Look how many people got ill from swine flu and how quickly it spread from Mexico to all over the world. Some scientists say that as the earth gets more and more over-populated, that there is a greater risk of a disease like that appearing and wiping a lot of humans out. If that happened I don’t think they would become zombies like in the films, i think it would be a flu-like virus.
  
  But a disease could never wipe out all humans because there are humans living in far flung, remote places all over the world, isolated communities so humans wouldn’t become extinct.
