• Question: Will humans ever evolve to breath under water like fish?

      If in the future there is some driving force that means humans will have to live under water then I think there will be no reason why we should not evolve in this way. It will of course take many centuries for this to happen.

      I agree with Angela – I don’t see why this couldn’t happen if we had to live underwater, but it would take many, many years for gills to replace lungs as our main breathing apparatus. Plus I think it is more likely that humans would invent technology that enabled us to breathe permanently underwater than evolve gills, as it would be a quicker solution!
