• Question: why do rats sometimes survive a nuclear blast

      I imagine the same way anything else can survive… by being hidden under something, protected by the extreme changes in pressure and temperature and the effects of ionising radiation.

      I expect if rats really are more likely to survive (though I have not heard that they are) it probably because they commonly live underground.
