      Hi Emily and Sophie

      I think we have quite a few problems, these are my top 5:

      1) Resistance of disease to antibiotics – making it difficult to cure some of the diseases we had previously treated easily;
      2) Need to find new energy sources before fossil fuels run out;
      3) Poverty, hunger and lack of clean water in some countries
      4) Climate change
      5) Terrorism and conflict

      Unfortunately there are a lot of rather large problems facing the world these days. I think Climate Change and finding fossil fuel alternatives are some of the biggest, because they affect everyone in the world and the world itself.

      Having a large human population (whatever ‘problems’ humans cause or face, whether they be destruction of habitats and pollution, or competition for limited resources, having more humans around makes the problems worse and more difficult to solve).

      … alternatively if you prefer not to reduce the global population, then finding a way to colonise other planets (difficult though it certainly would be) is another problem to solve.

      … or we could just all consume a good deal less.
