I am working on T-cells, which are cells of the immune system, which might be able to kill cancer. Out of the millions of T-cells we have, a few might be able to spot and find the cancer. However, when they get there, the job is too big to do on their own. This is where we come in and we take out the tumour, find these super T-cells and grow them to massive numbers in the lab. Then we can give the patient back their cells in bigger numbers, so that they all work together to kill the cancer. This treatment has been successful in around 50% of patients for skin cancer so far, which is actually pretty good!
