It’s important to me as I would like to feel that I have had a positive impact on you guys and that I have managed to inspire you all a little.
However, winning isn’t everything and just being selected to take part and have this opportunity is amazing.

        It isn’t
I am happy to take part and show that scientists are normal people

But if I won I would use the money to start a Science podcast

Winning is not improtant to me – it is the taking part that generates team work that it important.

I don’t feel that winning is important either. I feel very lucky that I get to be part of it and hope that you guys learn something from it and I do too. Winning or doing “well” would give me confidence that I am answering your questions well but also I hope if I am unclear or you don’t understand you can comment and I can learn to explain myself better. I think this is more important than winning.

There is a touch of peer pressure on me I guess – a few scientists from my research centre have taken part in previous rounds and have done very well, so a high bar!

The reason I signed up though is because I thought I could contribute. I have done quite a bit of work with schools over the last few years, but nothing like this.

I would agree with what has already been said – more about showing what my life is like and that scientists can have fun and enjoy themselves just as much as anyone else. Also, come to the dark side and become a scientist! We have cookies! Mostly our office though, because we are permanently on a sugar high.
