My favourite memory so far was coming up with my idea for my PhD project. I looked at what was out there and submitted my idea to my professor and he said he thought it looked good and might work 😀

That was a great moment for me and it’s what I’m working on now. It’s nice to be able to decide what you want to study, instead of being told what you have to learn like in school.

the first time I made something, that to the best of knowledge, had never existed in the universe before, and collecting the evidence to prove it.

I agree with John the best thing is making new things. I also have a reaction that was really hard to make work and I spent weeks trying to make a new molecule. When I finally made it work and it was “clean” (Not other molecules mixed in with it-which can be very tricky to do) I took a picture of it and stuck it on the wall in the lab for all of my workfriends to see! I had to stop myself from running down the corridor shouting Eureka! I was so pleased.
