Hopefully we’ll have jet packs and teleport machines

I think the smart phone will be nearly dead
I – like many others – walk around face in my screen
I think in the future that will look super strange
I hope we don’t go all Matrix though

I hope to be married and have children by then and have my career set up. I hope I am in a job I love and I can do something to do with the environment and get out and speak to lots of people like I try to now 🙂

A permanent job would be nice. No, scratch that… a job would be nice!

I reckon that we will have more powerful computers, to the point where they can begin helping with the organisation of all the protein, enzyme and other biological data that just floods everywhere these days. Information overload is no surprise in any discipline of science, but I swear I get introduced to a new “super awesome” database every darn week, and I am forever trying to figure out the reasons why I am listening to people about them anymore.

In ten years though I would like to have done my job hopping all round the world and have founded my own research group somewhere. I would like to continue on my PhD research, the last vestige of my now retired supervisor’s work, and continuing on based upon work that has been looked at for many decades, on and off. Would be nice to contribute to such a distinguished investigation.

Important part of that would be teaching and leading the next generation of scientists too, ensuring that they find a better road than I did, learning from my experiences and generally making the world a better place.
