In 20 years I hope we have jet packs and teleport machines

Driverless cars will mean we can travel faster more safely so I think the safety of driverless means other safety features and steering etc can be removed – saving weight so even without advancing any other technological aspects the weight savings of driverless and driver assisted cars means speed can go up quite a lot

There will be flying cars in about 10 years time so it is likely that the fastest cars will break the sound barrier.
Thrust SSC hopes to do that [break the sound barrier that is] in South Africa in the next 12-124 months.
Hopefully it won’t fly but if it does it will be piloted by a jet fighter pilot

I imagine they would be able to drive a lot faster as, like John says they won’t be controlled by people so chances of crashing will be reduced. I think one of the things that may prevent cars from being as fast as they could be would be a major change in fuel source. We need to figure out how to make lightweight batteries ideally. A good challenge for you future scientists!

Not sure we will ever really go for flying cars, they’ve been promised for quite a while now! Driverless cars will become mainstream though I reckon.

As for fastest, with Robert here, the Bloodhound will probably be the fastest – going for the land speed record. Then again, at what point does it stop being a car and start being a land jet? No idea, but its cool, and they are hoping to go above 1000mph.

They think in the future that people won’t even have cars! They think driverless cars will become huge and your driveway will become a parking space so a car will just sit there if it is not needed. If you want to go somewhere you order a car or just hop into the one in your driveway that isn’t being used! I’m not sure how I feel about the idea to be honest.
