Question: Why are the majority of you putting the prize money towards schools and informing classes instead of actual cancer research?

Because that is what we are suppost to put the money towards. I don’t think I’m allowed to put to money on anything other than a science communications project.

Hiya.
The rules of the competition are that we have to spend the money on publicising or communicating our research. Plus, we’re all taking part in this competition because we think it is important that school students get the opportunity to learn more about science in the real world and not just what you do in science lessons at school.

Because even if £500 sounds a lot, unfortunately is not enough to do research 🙁 With that I could but things that could help only for a couple of experiments, so I think it would be better to invest the money talking about science to kids, so that more kids could get interested in science…and stop thinking that we are all mad with funny hair 😉

Because that is a stipulation of the competition – the prize money must go towards science communication in some form.
