The first thing I would suggest is to find out what she is interested in. There is science involved in all kinds of things. For example, cooking is a type of chemistry and the way ice skates glide over the ice is a type of physics. I’m sure that whatever her hobbies are there will be some interesting science involved!
Science is wonderful, it explains life, the universe and everything. And it can help make the world a better place. But it would be a boring world if we all enjoyed the same things, and I bet that your friend enjoys some things that you find boring, so perhaps you should just agree to disagree.
Maybe explain to her that the building blocks of the chemicals in her body were formed in a star, or that she is related to jellyfish, or that the stars in the universe far outnumber the grains of sand on all the beaches on earth… If she still finds science boring, then she might be beyond help!
Well, the easy is answer is to show her some interesting science. There is plenty of it out there. I suspect that she just doesn’t know enough science to really make that judgement. I find the origin of the universe, the galaxy, the solar system, the earth, life, humans, language and love, to be some of the most interesting things imaginable. Don’t get me wrong, I also think music and sports and culture and art are also really interesting, but certainly science is no less interesting than any of those. I would say say that its more interesting!
