No, I really have problems remembering things actually. It’s really useful to have a fantastic memory, but you can still be a good scientist if you don’t – the important thing is to know where to find the information you need quickly.

It can be difficult to remember everything, so I make lots of lists – when I used to revise for exams I would write things down and stick them up all over the place. It can also be good to remember where to find things out again – just in case you forget.

There are lots of techniques which apparently let you remember huge amounts of information instantly. How successful they are depends, I suppose, on how hard you try to get them to work, and also on whether or not you are even able to do them!

I often forget very simple pieces of science, like equations, and so need my supervisor to remind me! I think having Google means often I don’t even TRY to remember things – because I can always look them up online afterwards!

Sorry for the lack of useful advice… Like I said, if you are genuinely concerned, there are resources available in books or online for ways of helping improve your memory.

Lots of people have lots of different ways of remembering things. One way I do it is by making up rhymes.
