If you consider science as a chain, at the end of it there are medical doctors that give to patients what scientist have discovered much higher up in the chain. I think that they are both indispensable part of the scientific process, but in the middle there are a lot of professions that are as important: research assistant, nurses…

Certainly doctors are very important, but I think scientists are more important. But then I’m a bit biased! Think of it this way though: without scientists to do research and develop drugs, doctors wouldn’t be able to do their job very well because they’d have nothing to treat patients with!

Doctors and scientists are both very important, but I think that the people who collect the rubbish bins, clean the streets and work in the sewage plants are the most important of all!

One of the biggest advances in health has been the availability of clean water and sanitary living conditions. In places where people don’t have clean water, lots of people die when they are very young because of the infections they get from dirty water.

Certainly – I think doctors perform an important a role in society, just like firemen, policemen etc. I think working as a doctor is something to be hugely proud of.

Yes, I do, but I do think there are more important ones, such as dustbin collectors.
