• Question: Are people with asthma more likely to get lung cancer, and are people with glasses more likely to get brain cancer?

      No, there’s no link that I know of between asthma and cancer or poor eyesight and cancer… but perhaps Jo knows better, as she’s an epidemiologist.

      There is some evidence to show that people with asthma are slightly more likely to get lung cancer than those without. However, the increased risk is tiny compared to the chances of getting lung cancer if you smoke.

      As far as I’m aware, there is no link between wearing glasses and getting brain cancer.

      There have been some studies that found that people with asthma were more likely to get lung cancer – but I don’t think we know for sure yet. Asthma is definitely not a major cause of lung cancer though because most lung cancers are caused by smoking.

      There’s no evidence that people with glasses are more likely to get brain cancer – although I don’t think anyone has ever checked. It’s very very very very unlikely though!!!
