I do not have a religion, but work with a lot of people from different faiths and can see how religion can shape many of the decisions we make in our lives. When you work in a research environment, you learn to respect everyone else’s beliefs and appreciate that the way they see or do things might be shaped by their beliefs. There is nothing wrong with this, and the best teams value diversity.

I don’t have a religion; I was raised in a religious family (Catholic) but as I have gotten older and examined my own beliefs, I don’t find that they really line up with an organised religion. But growing up in a religious household and attending a faith school has given me a lot of respect for the importance of religion and the many benefits it can bring to people. I have colleagues of many different faiths and work in an environment where diversity is respected and encouraged.
