Personally I don’t feel sick, I have to handle patient blood samples and sometimes tissue samples but this doesn’t bother me. All my other work involves cancer cells derived from humans but when you look at them, they look like cells you may see in a text book so they wouldn’t make you feel sick. I think it entirely depends on how squeamish you are when handling patient samples 🙂

I don’t, but that is an important thing to consider when thinking about the area you want to work in. I used to volunteer in a hospital emergency room and some of the activity in there would make me feel queasy. In my job today, however, I only work with breast cancer tissue in wax blocks and it doesn’t make me feel bad.
