There are several different paths to becoming a scientist. Mine started in school with studying biology and chemistry which is when I think I realised my interest in human biology and knew I wanted to pursue a career in it.

I went on to university and did my degree in Biomedical Science, which was a degree that focused on human biology and the science of medicine. I knew I wanted to do research so after my degree I started my PhD in cancer which was four years of doing my own research project.

However, there are a broad range of jobs in science and research that don’t necessarily require the same level of qualifications. There are many jobs that you can do with just a undergraduate degree, it all depends on what kind of scientist you want to be
