Ryan Devlin answered on 10 Jun 2022:
Usually I travel down to Norfolk to see my family. Due to COVID, I haven’t been able to for the past couple of years, so I am looking forward to having a family Christmas in 2022. We also have a charity run along the beach in my home town, followed by a Boxing Day dip where people in the town dive into the freezing cold sea!

Open my stocking in my pyjamas, go to church with my grandma, have Christmas dinner, then open the family presents.

I usually go back to my mom’s flat in Birmingham.
Apart from overeating, we have a tradition of having something to build. One year we borrowed enough scalextric to wrap around our home many times and had a great evening betting on races.

I have had to work quite a lot of the last few Christmases (one of the downsides of being a doctor!) – we do try to make an effort to make it as joyful as possible for everyone who has to be there over Christmas, and then I just celebrate Christmas another time with my family. They often arrange for someone to deliver presents to the patients in festive spirit! We usually all bring in food and try to have some sort of Christmas lunch with other people working. I have a selection of excellent Christmas jumpers which I wear for the occasion.
I couldn’t imagine missing Christmas before, but there is a really good cameraderie between anyone working over Christmas, and working Christmas generally means your colleagues will try to make sure you’re off for New Years. So you just get to celebrate Christmas more than once! -

I spend Christmas either in the UK with my extended family in Lowestoft or in Australia with my mum and brother. Both are quite different because of the climate in Australia it would usually be going for a swim, eating some seafood and playing boardgames. In the UK it would be a traditional Christmas turkey dinner in silly Christmas jumpers also with boardgames.

I usually visit my family! That is why it was so hard during covid. We could not travel and Christmas was very different for us!

I usually spend Christmas with all my family, as I still live at home. We’ll have a big Christmas dinner around midday, then go to my grandparents’ house in the evening to see all my aunts, uncles and cousins.
