Probably the one I am studying, glioblastoma (brain cancer) – because it is very difficult to remove surgically, and we don’t have any treatments that can get rid of it.

It is not possible to pinpoint the hardest cancer to cure; there are many factors that influence the success rate of cancer cure.

Generally speaking, there are some notorious cancers that are very difficult to treat and cure in the UK. They are referred to as cancers of unmet need.

These include cancers of pancreas which I am undertaking research on, as well as cancers of oesophagus (gullet), lung and brain.

Fortunately, there are increasing efforts, by Cancer Research UK and other bodies and organisations, to improve survivorship of those who are affected by these cancers and their family.

I second what Karin has said I think anything in the brain because its difficult to remove and some drugs have trouble getting past the blood brain barrier
